Thinking of booking bike park Wales in January but was wondering how the trails hold up to freezing conditions? Anyone experienced them? Cheers.
I've rode it in the snow and it holds up Well, the very top above the trees was a little slidy but absolutely fine
Except Root Manoeuvres! We tried it last Friday and slide the majority of the way down on my are as the mud was ridiculous. It was funny but not really rideable unless you had swampthings on I reckon
Thanks marksnook not to bothered with snow, more if it freezes is it still rideable or is it just lethal? Thinking it doesn't really freeze in the wooded section?
rode it in the snow a year or two back, and it was bloody hilarious (cold but hilarious) the jumps on A470 were a bit whoo-aaa, but it was all ridable
I've only been to BPW twice, in December and January and am booked again for just before Christmas. The first trip was in snow at the top of the uplift and rain towards the bottom. It seems to hold up very well in bad conditions. The only thing I found a bit tricky in very cold conditions was the cycle of getting pretty warm in the uplift van then freezing again the second I got out! That can hardly be blamed on the place though. 🙂
On this subject, what front tyre for BPW in December? The choices are:
Minion DHF 2.5 Exo 3C
Shorty 2.5 Exo 3C
I know either would be fine but y'know, marginal gains and all that... I'll mostly be on the more natural reds and blacks. Wild card option is:
High Roller 2 2.4 Exo 3C
just to add confusion...
Yes, just avoid Root Manoeuvres. Unless you like giggling and possibe hospital food
I took my Shorty off for BPW in favour of a Mary. Others went High Roller and were fine.
Roots Manouvre was hilarious, slip and slide!
I’ve not tried root manoeuvres yet, but it doesn’t sound like my cup of tea. Maybe in summer.
Only tough part of BPW in snow is on a clear day you can go from BRIGHT light in the clear to almost dark in the trees and you’re blind for a bit.
