I noticed there was a lot of work going on, especially to the much criticised uplift road as well as the trails!
Was good to see they have buffed up some of the older red trails with bigger squarer jumps (I cased a fair few this time round) and bolstered the roster with some great red+ trails. The reds, particularly the red+ trails are arguably the highlight IMO and make some of the older blacks seem a bit lame (50 shades excepted). Got to be the best selection of intermediate to advanced trails at a single venue in the UK.
Poppty Ping (blue+) with some cheeky little tables serves as a really fun warm up before the main course! The absolute class act that is Roots Manoeuvres (so good I looped it 3 times), improved and still a hoot Insufficient Funds (2 runs), wonderful A470 jump line. Great additions of ACDC (fun jumpy trail) and Watts Occurring (close to being my new favourite).
I believe Pork Belly (black trail) has had a make over. Hope some of the others get the same treatment. Good effort BPW!
My favourite place to ride a bike
Not even the 4 HR drive puts me off
Just had my 12th trip there and the work that's been done on the trails was sensational
Sadly the 2 day trip 8th\9th June was soured by the worst organisation of the uplift I've ever had . constant waiting for a van the guy handling the uplift was completely out of his depth and had bikers walking up and down the fire rd and it seriously put our group off and we weren't the only ones and judging by the availability we might no be alone .never known such green squares at bpw
I'm going to give it a break for a while as it really was just the uplift that ruined what is otherwise just an awesome place
I went up there with a mate in June. We were quite proud that we managed to get roughly 4 full runs in plus about 6 half runs (to the fireroad) plus a few goes of poppety ping on our journeys up.
I must say it was very relaxing not having to be involved with the uplift and what tremendous value for money it was just paying £10 for a day pass.
Total climbing over 5hrs was 2000m but it was the downhills that exhausted us not the climb.
Think it’s a fantastic place. I love it!
We went there recently and the uplift was totally sorted. No waiting at all and that was on a Saturday.
Booked for a couple of days with DezBJr next month. Can’t wait, what a wonderful way to spend time with one’s offspring 😁
Talking of which - I’d like to hire him a bike for one of the days ( he rides my old Yeti, and is getting too tall for it) - anyone know if I’ll be ok to rock up and hire on the day, or better to book in advance? cheers
Book in advance.

Always used the uplift. It's a mountain biking theme park to me (so much fun as long as you don't spanner yourself) and treat, once maybe twice a year. I like the luxury of being bounced around in an old tranny, soaking up the drivers distinct music preferences! Jeezuz you wouldn't buy one those secondhand would ya?
It was packed when I went. Occasional long queues and a bit of waiting around while loading up, not much though. It's not the quickest uplift that's for sure. Looks as though they aren't ignoring the problem, there was some pretty big excavations going on!
Dez is your lad a keen jumper? If so he'll be in his element. The jumps (on the reds) are a fair bit bigger, with steeper take-offs than they used to be and all the better for it IMO. I can imagine the +reds could be a bit much for beginners.

It's our 3rd or 4th annual visit. Prefer the jumps in the tech trails as the trails are more interesting. (And I'm not much of a jumper - find the boing boing boing ones a bit tedious!). Never experienced it in the dry, so fingers crossed!
Love the place but on the last trip (1st Sunday in July) it seemed to me that all of the improvements to the uplift have been done with the aim of getting more people up the hill rather than making it quicker for the original numbers. I've never seen so many people there and I think we got 9 runs - have done 14 in the past.
Won't put me off though!
