I have a solid cardboard bike box from a shop for a flight to the alps in a couple of weeks. But my bike is long (Jeht in L) so it wont go in with the rear wheel on. So should i...

A) Take both wheels off and pack the whole thing well inc using a bit of cut wood to keep the BB / Chainset up off the base. Bars / Pedals / Mech off and forks reversed etc.

B) Get a bigger box (ebike size) so that i can keep the back wheel on.

Only doing this once more by air as now have a motorhome, so buying a big bike bag seems over the top.

Cheers BF

Bigger box or rent a bike bag. A pranged bike will ruin a holiday before it's started.

How much too short is the current box? Would removing the shock help?

I used polystyrene packing and bubble wrap raided from skip.  Assembled bike at destination and rode away, so q pleased total investment in box and packing was zero.
