Theres a load of chat about Morzine but I'm out in BsM for a fortnight as part of a bunch of families. Any other STWers out then that might fancy hooking up for a bit of riding?

As the Funi isn't running I've been looking at the possibility of exploring some of the lesser ridden bits (particularly Upper Tarentaise Tour) and getting coolbus to do a shuttle to access them. The price is a bit steep for the 2/3 of us that would be riding at any time but if anyone else was around that fancied joining up it becomes a lot better really quick.

I'm there @mrhoppy first week of August with the family - planning on riding Tignes / Val D'Isere bike park, if we like it I can see us doing most of our riding there. I've only been to the valley once before so don't know it all that well.
Something like that Tarentaise Tour looks awesome, but levels above what we'll be riding - mainly greens / blues and some reds if my son gets his eye in.

Are you doing anything on the road? I hired a road bike last time and did Col de L'Iseran - great climb but a very mid pull up the valley to Val D'Isere. Reckon Col du petit St Bernard would be better from Bourg.

I'll be taking Hoppy jr out at least a couple of times and Tignes/V-Diz seems to be a slightly better bet for on piste blues. We'll be knocking around the huttopia campsite, might see you about.

There's too much to go at off road for me to be taking the road bike, and it all seems to go uphill. 🥵

I will be in BSM from next weekend for a couple of days. Staying at the Huttopia as well. I will be by myself with my kids, so big tours alone are probably not doable. I was wondering if there is a place to rent Mtb for the kids and if there are any easily accesible parks to ride with them instead. I will bring my roadbike and was going to ride up Cormet de Roselend.

There's a few rental places in town and at arc 1800 (I think). There's a pump track near the campsite and some tracks in the woods. Up to there is a green (Les Trancs) runs into arc 2000 and depending on age/competence a number of blues. Hoppy jr is 10 and we'll be riding those.

I'm part of a group that going to be in Peisey for a week from 30th, we have a Coolbus booking for the 3rd with some spaces available.  I've sent you a PM with details on how to contact the trip organiser if you are interested,

Yes - plenty of rental places in Arc 1800.

There was a great bike shop near Huttopia too, before Covid times… hopefully it’s still there.

We picked up tons of punctures there so invest in solid tyres.

I've been to BSM with the family loads, it's a great place. The swimming pool was recently refurbished and is great for kids, it's only a short walk from the campsite. There's also a lovely swimming lake (plan d'eau) down towards Aime (about 10 bmin drive). Nice little sand beach, lifeguard, a bar and trampling etc.

Definitely get up to tignes for the blues and greens, longer and easier than Les Arcs. I'd recommend the epicly long blue (Val Bleu?) From the top of the Olympic lift. Absolutely brilliant for kids.

Have fun, am jealous!

EDIT: Olympic lift is from VDS, bit same pass as tignes)

Blimey. I’ll be in BSM from next Monday until the 5th aug. the funi is down but apparently there’s a replacement bus with bike trailers etc, so hopefully not too much of a hassle. My kids are 10 and 7, so we’ll also be exploring the greens and blues as well as sneaking off for some proper riding sometime… Happy to hook up for a bimble if I can 👍 FWIW I prefer the ridding around Les Arcs to the bike park at Val. It was a bit to moonscapey for me last time I was there. Fun tho.

Assuming you have a car (or in fact you could take the train), you could also take yourselves down to Albertville for the day. Its about 45min drive down the N90 (you would have driven past on way to BSM). From the train/bus station they offer a free bus to Les Saisies which, after a short chairlift or cycle to top, has an excellent 20km descent back to Albertville. There is also a bikepark (which I havent ridden) and lots of other trails in Beaufortain
