Having had a bit of a break from MTB for a few years, seems that bottom brackets have moved on. When I was spannering bikes regularly, I changed threaded, square taper units, those splined threaded units (ISIS?) , those external bottom bracket things which were always wearing out, and thats the point at which I took a break.
So, my question is, whats the standard these days, and if there are several, what are the pros and cons of these? I believe some are press fitted these days? Looking to get a newish bike and get back into it now, so all help appreciated. Thanks.

Press fit has a multitude of sizes within its "standard".

T47 is newish.

I specifically bought a Santa Cruz and Bianchi as they had standard screw in bottom brackets, I think specialized have started doing the same

Search on YouTube for Hambini. Learn about bottom brackets, and a lot more about gratuitous swearing.

Ha! Thanks for the heads up about Hambini mate, his video on pressfit v threaded BB explained pretty much all my queries away. Bloke is legit too, every engineer who actually knows their onions that I've met swear like troopers.
