Just got an old Specialized P1 for pumptrack use. The original Truvativ Howitzer bottom bracket is goosed. I thought I might swap the chain set for a lighter XT octalink one I already have. The TV bottom bracket is a whopping 140mm, so which length octalink bottom bracket do I want?
Whatever one your chainset needa
Well I'm sure the chainset will be quite happy on any length octalink bb but the chain line might require something more specific.
Just look up the model of the chainset and see what bb length Shimano recommend.
Sheldons website has a list of crank v axle length
Truvativ chainset will not fit an Octalink BB. Only Shimano Octalink chainset will fit. Any other splined crank (like ISIS) is different.
Personally I'd junk the whole lot and get a Deore HT2 unit.
I know it won't hence asking which octalink bb for the xt chain set I have. Looks like I'll have to get the tape measure out and also see if I can get the rear cog off so I can mess about with some spare spacers I have.
