Hello,

I am going to buy new shock and looking for some experiences with the Bos vipr 2.1. Is there anyone riding it? I know it can perform great in downhill, but i am a bit sceptic about its uphill performance. I am riding AM/EN trails with steep technical climbs. The 2.1 version should have firmer pedal platform, is it firm enough for stand up climbing? Also, how it is in terms of reliability?

Thanks for answers.

I've got a Vip'r and it's by far the best shock I've ever used (used CCDB, CCDBair, Fox Rp series including push tuned versions) - think of it as a perfect match for Devilles - never used more travel than it needs, super controlled around the sag point, yet is still sensitive to small bumps. Seem to control deep travel rebound so you don't get that shooting you over the bars feeling. Sorry, struggling to explain myself. It's just perfect in my opinion.

Don't know about the 2.1 but can't imagine they've changed it too much, it's just fantastic.

My original VIP'R has been brilliant over the last 12 months. My experience is not quite so extensive with modern shocks as Mildred - but rides better than my previous Specialized AFR shock (which I found excellent already), and all of the older shocks that I have tried including Fox Triad, RP23, Fox Float RL AVR, PUSH Fox Float, FOX DHX Air, Fox Vanilla RC and ROMIC.

Supportive, controlled and fuss free.

I had a Vip'r on my old five and as mildred says, it is a great shock, in a whole different league to a fox even a pushed one.
The problem with Bos is getting spare parts, I waited 18 months for a replacement air can! I have also heard that Surf Sales are not going to be dealing with Bos in 2014 so it could be even more difficult to get parts!

Now that would be a massive shame; Surf sales were brilliant when I snapped the air valve off mine and one end got stuck inside the can. 1 day turnaround and reasonable fees - I was very impressed. That said, J-Tech service Bos, as do Mad Elk in Ireland.

We service Vipr s and devilles too, however if something is broken or warranty (that requires parts from BOS) you maybe looking at a very long wait...
