In a horrible twist ,my Pikes that were returned under warrenty to Sram have not returned back in time for this weekends trip to the lakes ,so it looks like im taking the semi fat one with me instead of my Five , should I be worried about the tyres taking a rocky beating ? Or am I worrying about nothing and just enjoy the views
Which tyres? I reckon you'll be fine, I love both areas.
Nobby Nic 27.5x3 snakeskin and Spec purgatory control on the front ,
Gutted to be fair wanted my Five back in time but hey ho ,im sure a lightweight hardtail will have its advantages on the ups
Why would they not be able to ride on rocks?
I reckon it will be a lot of fun. The big rocky descent was hard on rims and pinch flat heavy in the days before tubeless but I'd guess the bigger the bubble the better.
A friends purgatory and ground control survived antur unscathed, which can be nasty test for tyres, although I think he did run them at closer to normal mtb pressures to protect the rims a bit.
I do too but the thought of the other hooligans all screaming down Gatesgarth path on their full bounce Yetis and Fives leaves me contemplating what if , as it stands though with it being almost 1pm and still no call from the LBS about the pikes ,it looks like I will just have to take the plus and enjoy the weekend
Just different innit, last time we did it my mates bouncer was out of commission so he rode it on his '93 kona explosif. He was much slower naturally but when I offered him a go on mine down a bit of Kentmere, he refused saying he 'I'm enjoying riding this'
Take some decent tyre boot material just in case? Small roll of gaffa tape or the like?
We are up there all weekend doing a few routes and I will have a spare tyre and tubes ect so only thing left to say is stop being a soppy bugger Steve and just enjoy it
