Hi all,
Apologies in advance, I know this is very boring, but just looking for advice before I go drop some cash on a 29er wheelset.

Currently using 27.5 x 2.8" schwalbe g-one all round tyres on my stooge, on a mix of road and gravel, to help increase mileage and fitness. Would I notice a massive difference in speed and efficiency if I changed to a 29er set up with 2.35" g-ones? Will it make the stooge 'road bike fast'?

Cheers for any advice

Road bike fast from a 2.35" tyre?

No

And I'd say no to the actual question too, and even if I'm wrong it definitely wouldn't increase fitness.

A stooge is an mtb, right?

Even if you put 28mm slicks on an mtb, it won't be as fast as a road bike.

Aero, innit. Or a distinct lack of.

If you want to increase fitness then you don't want faster or more narrow tyres.

The draggier the better, no?

Admittedly, the road bike fast question came across a bit too serious.

I assumed it was some marketing/bike-journo (is there much difference?) speak.

Your bike will feel faster with lighter (ie narrower and less grippy) tyres(+wheels) but it won't actually be much faster. The former is probably more important.
