Trying to set up gears on a parts bin special.
Got a crankset which needs a 110-113mm bb to make a 47.5mm-50mm chainline (Shimano M440) so I have a 113 spindle bb...
I also have an old (*old*) front mech (shimano fd739) but I can't get it to reach the big ring.
Am I missing a trick or do I just need a newer mech? Tried adjusting the limit screws and its just not happening.
No such thing as a "boring" bike build question!
Probably new mech time, older types were set up for a narrower chainline than the modern ones.
Cheers. New mech bought. All working well except...setting up the rear derailleur is hell. Never done it before. Wish I kept it SS at the moment!
