Apologies if I'm being a numpty. Have Hope Pro4 boost hubs, running 27.5 x 3.0 on a rigid fork. Want to try 100mm sus fork and looking secondhand. Gather a 29er boost fork will have plenty of room for 27.5 x 3.0 tyres. But not many secondhand boost options around. So 2 questions -
- can I convert the hubs with an adaptor to 100mm bolt thru?
- if I do this, does it narrow the fork a little and consequently the tyre width that I can run with so a e.g. Rockshox SID 29er fork may not cope with 3.0 tyres?
Thanks
No. The additional 10mm for the Boost hub is between the flanges.- can I convert the hubs with an adaptor to 100mm bolt thru?
A non boost Sid won't allow a 3" tyre. My old Rebas only just allowed 2.8 Schwalbes.
Revs are a little wider.
thanks, good to know
Aus - I'm running a boost 27.5 fork which just means it has 110mm axle width and that 2.8" NNs are fitted in between with little clearance but trust Ibis specced their bikes with correct spec as assuming that they didn't want to fit with an offset more than 42mm iirc.
Now I' question what the + boosted Pikes would have given me in terms of clearance.
But yeah clearance to brace is tightish but side to side acceptable.
I would hazzard a guess that you could possibly fit 3.0"er tyres to a boost fork like the Pike but that'll cause limited clearance.
I'm sure Bikescene have boost Pikes in 130mm (yes 130mm if that's ok) for £500 which has gotta be wirth checking out.
Hoping this has helped and not confused things further. 🙂
