Wanting to try B+ on my Stache 5 so need a boost rear hub/rim

Looking at the SunRingle Mulefut 50 Plus

Or there's the WTB Scraper. This being a tad heavier (32grms)

What are my hub options? Hope?

DT Swiss do the 350 hubs in boost and also have the XM551 rims for 650+

Could be worth looking at

Wanting to try B+ on my Stache 5

I'd be interested to hear how that goes... I find my Stache 9 quite low to the ground, I get pedal strikes as it is, and I'd wondered how practical it would be. Keep us informed 🙂

What's RRP on those?

£140 for a rear hub
£125 for a Scraper

That leaves £35 for spokes and build time.

Fully 650+ on my stache, Hope and Scraper for last-ability (I hope). Only two rides in but I'm totally sold on it and it will be a long time before I feel the need to go 29+. Peterpoddy, yes I got pedal strikes but no more than usual.

^ Good to hear. Having tried both, I'm rather sold too on the B+ rather than the 29 plus

Can I ask what tyre combo have you gone for?

Thanks sss

Spec Purgatory 3.0 front and rear. Not a huge fan of scwalbe so that seemed the grippiest option available in the UK right now.

I like 650b as I've wound the adjusters in for minimum chainstay length. Turns on a dime now 😉

Was the CS adjustment easy enough?

I've looked and the drop out slider spacers look a bit weird

All the way in must be at about 16" dead?

Very easy except, one of the thin bolts had sheared, had to use my spare hanger. Just loosen the big nuts, remove the plastic spacer with pliers, and wind away 😉 The worst bit is when it dawns on you that you have to shorten the chain

Have you measured CS to see what length you've achieved?

BTW - looks like the Nobby Nic 2.8 is a 2.6

Shame you have to snip a link to swap rims

That would depend on how long a rear mech cage you are using.

Fair enough. What differences have you found over 29+? I like mine as it is but I'm very interested. 🙂

Sort and tall it's like riding a big BMX in comparison

Sadly I can't really offer much comparison as I never had it built up for 29 + (well only on the rear). To be frank I doubt there's a huge difference, I just went for 650b as I'm using my old pikes rather than buying boost.

Bonesetter I don't need to know this. Now it's going to burn away in me until I give in and try it 😀
