I've just fitted a Bontranger 2x dropper lever to my bike. The lever looks nicely built but it takes a lot more effort to press than my old BrandX 2x lever (which seemed poorly built since the cable flips off of the radius it is meant to sit on, but it worked fine & was lighter).

My cable housing isn't Shimano branded so isn't anything fancy & the gear cable seemed fairly smooth but was one plucked out of my bits & bobs drawer. I'm not sure if the heavy lever is down to the lever being low leverage crap, or the cables. I don't want to put in new cable yet as it was such a flipping ball-ache fitting it this afternoon. So, does anyone else use this lever, is it just crap or are my cables crap?

Also, is there any alternative solutions to fitting the rubber doofer/washer thing that is meant to cover the frame hole/cable entrance? I damaged the rubber a bit during the fitting.

Thanks. 🙂

Not sure about the fitting as LBS did mine, but mine is really smooth, just a gentle press and it releases dropper and my shock lock out (YT Izzo).

It's the leverage, replacing the cable will not improve it. I've tried it with different droppers and so I don't think it's the actuator either.

I've ordered the PNW one, it looks like it has more leverage hopefully. Thanks.
