When these are sold by Absolute Black they include the chainring bolts... but I got an eBay 'bargain' without bolts. Doh.
I want to mount it on an SLX double chainset 104bcd so, what would be the best option to buy... size and whether steel, aluminium or titanium?
Any single chainring bolts will do. But look for those that use a hex key fitting on both sides. Much better than faffing around with chainring bolt tools.
Thanks. I thought the 30t 104bcd ovals needed a special mix to make them work.
Oh. Usually 30t on a 104 bcd will have built in threaded spacers. If that's the case then you only need a standard length chainring bolt, not the nut part.
Forget that. Sorry you are right. Specials for absolute black. You will have to contact them
Thanks. Have to bite the bullet!
I thought 30t was the min for a round ring on 104bcd...
and 32t was the min for an oval, for obvious reasons. Am I wrong?
I fitted an AB oval 32t and used the same bolts as my previous round 32t, nothing special needed for the oval one.

I guess that's why it needs special bolts, as there wouldn't be enough space on the narrow bit for standard bolts. Maybe?
From the Absolute Black website in reference to 30T oval on 104BCD
*30T chainring has build-in 2.5mm spacers and threaded holes (M8 / M5) to accommodate this size on spider. It also comes with bolts and spacers in the package: 2x M8 aluminium bolts T30 torx, 2x M5 steel bolts T25 torx and 2x eccentric spacers. This is a patent pending solution.
