Hi all,

An alan pivot bolt keeps coming loose on my bike. In the attached image, its the one towards the back near to the rear derailleur. Any ideas why, or what i can do to stop it happening? Is this normal with bikes that are getting shaken about quite a bit?

Cheers

Are the bearings at the pivot moving freely? Any washers missing that are there to stop the bolt binding on anything? Thread definitely okay?
Try some Loctite 248 threadlock (halfords sell it for a good price)

I think everything is ok, shouldn't be anything missing as its only a few months old and never had anything dismantled. Thread seems ok, when tightening back up. To check if the bearing is moving freely, would i need to remove it?

Might take it back into them and see what they say. However, my halfords confidence is not too good.

Cheers

tighten it up and bounce up and down on the bike a bit. check the bolt.

If it's coming loose from just a bit of bouncing it would suggest something is wrong with the bearing. Don't ride it loose as you might damage the thread due to the bolt moving round.

Looks like a possible bearing issue on one side. I tightened it up before going for a ride round Llandegla last night, and it was very loose again by about half way round. The other side stays nice and tight though.

Think i'll drop it back in and see what they will do about it.
