Hi
After months of deliberation I have decided on a Boardman CX Team.
My employers are signed up to Cyclescheme, so don't deal with Halfords, I think that's right.
Halfords are offering £70 off until tomorrow - so £830, which seems a good deal given the feedback and reviews.
However, I did read somewhere that you can get CTC / BCU vouchers that you can use at the same time as Halfords discounts - is that right? Any help would be very much appreciated. Many thanks

I bought one yesterday, used reserve and collect on the web* to get the £70 off for spending £700 then used a british cycling 10% voucher in store when I paid for it, so total cost was about £746. If you register your card with quidco you should get a further 4% cashback as well. If the cashback works I will have paid just over £700 for mine 🙂 Accessories are 3 for 2 so I got a rack, lock and spd's as well.

*I might have been lucky with this, my local store had one in stock, if there is no stock at your local store you will have to pay online and I don't think you can use the british cycling voucher then (but you could try blagging student discount, apparently nus(month)(year) gives 10% online so try NUSAUG12 assuming you do it tomorrow.

I did as mikeg with the British cycling voucher. The vouchers dont work like they used to - you now download a 10% off voucher and use that in store rather than buying vouchers with a value through BC.

I'm not sure if stock is in short supply or there's a new model coming out, or even if Halfords are ditching the boardman brand altogether after they have been pushing their own carrera brand so much, but there are very few stores left with physical stock. In most cases, you need to reserve and pay online and then the bike gets delivered to the store next day. You cannot use the bc voucher for this, only for pay in store transactions, in which case the store actually needs stock.

You might be able to go in store and ask them to order you one in anodise the bc voucher, but that doesn't allow you to use the discounts online. Note also that the bc voucher doesn't work in conjunction with online voucher codes, but does work on sale items, hence being able to use with the the 70 online discount at the mo.

Lastly, the NUS codes haven't seemed to have worked for the last couple of months..... And interestingly, ay least a few weeks ago, if you put the team cx in your basket and went to checkout, the voucher code box magically disappeared..... With most other bikes and products you could put a code in... Think Halfords are onto the mass multiple discounting, so you need to work a bit harder now 🙂

At Wiggle, I got 12% off for being a platinum customer, 20% off for being in Australia, and no VAT. Cost 180 bucks to get it into the country mind.

HTH.

Wiggle only sell them internationally though, not in the UK.

Thanks folks. I've joined BC, and will do as Mike G stated today. 746 notes would seem a good deal, so I'd be happy with that.
Many thanks
