Am very tempted to get a cheap cx bike for hacking about when the bouncy bike is a bit much, thinking rides from my house onto the SDW etc.
The Boardman cross bikes look good value for the monies, just unsure on size. I'm 6'2" with a 34" inside leg, anyone of a similar size got one, or alternative bikes for circa £600?
6" 1 1/2 and ride a 57cm norco was about £600 from evans. Mrs C has one of the boardmans (small frame), nice bike but they are heavy
nice bike but they are heavy
The wheels are, that's for sure 😉
On my Boardman CX Team the wheels were 2.3Kg so I saved about 500g when I built some up (fairly conservatively really) to replace them...
For the record I'm 5'10" and have the 53cm one listed on the Halfords site. I wouldn't want it any bigger I don't think. Edit: but then I do have little legs relatively speaking!
I'm 6'2" with 34" inside leg with a large CX comp, fits great. They measure up fairly large, I think on the Boardman site it states 555mm centre to top, but equivalent to 580mm conventional frame (I guess due to sloping to tube frame). I swapped wheels, saddle and pedals, removed interrupter brake levers, now weighs 10.5kg. I bought when on offer at 10% off, then bought vouchers at 10% discount so cost £480 ish. If buying now I'd look at the pinnacle arkose 3 2014 at 750 currently at Evans, brill spec for the money, well worth the extra £150 over your budget for carbon fork and 105 bits.
I'm now looking at possibly swapping out frame and fork as they are also fairly overbuilt, 2Kg frame and 900g fork... something to bear in mind...
