bolehills in sheffield, quite short though.

Or Chesterfield is quite kid friendly and downhill so they can have a good run at it.

Preston is good (its a proper race track)

Yeadon is good fun but shortish (its also right at the end of Leeds Bradford Airport so quite interesting if you like planes!)

Crewe is good but big!

Coppul nr wigan is also good with a MAASSIVE run in ramp and trails as well but bloody hell its long!

I'd try chesvegas (aka chesterield) , you can get lots of speed for the jumps easily (as its downhill) you can also cut over the back of the first berm and miss the 2nd and 3rd straights out hitting the final straight with warp speed loads of fun and a little more satisfying for smaller legs. It would also suityour 29'er best out of the options I gave as the jumps are shallower. I must state though its a few years since I last visited.

The car park is just off Inkersall Green Road which is just off the A619 outside of chesvegas.

Preston and crewe are good as they have excellant teams and the people who ride there are very impressive might an inspiration to your lad. For example Shaneze Reid (have I spelt that right?) rides at Preston and she is frickin rapido!
