Specifically, any thoughts on the IQ-X vs IQ-XS?
The XS has become my favourite light: the beam is as good as the Luxos U and Cyo Premium, and the compact size is great.
I’d happily buy another, but I’m conscious that I still haven’t tried the flagship IQ-X.
Does it give an appreciably brighter/better-quality beam, would you say? Or not worth the extra size and cost over my current favourite?
I've had the IQ-X since it was released, and happy to recommend it. Looks like IQ-XS is not quite as bright (70 vs 100 lux) and can't be mounted upside down if that's important for you. The side visibility strips are a bit better on the XS too, but I'd like to keep the higher overall output. IQ-X beam is nicely shaped and suits my road commute through town and dark country lanes.
I have had an iq-x since release also.
Much much prefer it to my exposure Revo especially in the wet. The TUV focus beam actually makes it give more useful light despite lower actual measured lumens
It's pretty robust as well.
I had one that came on a Genesis Tour de Fer. Liked the amount of light output, liked the beam pattern, wasn't a massive fan of the pushbutton switch on the back - without checking the lamp, could never be quite certain if it had switched or not, but being dynamo powered I wasn't overly fussed about turning off when not required. And then it died.
Replaced with a Lyt - the higher lux rated one, the exact combination of letters escapes me. For what the bike gets used for, the lower light output isn't a major issue - it's bright enough where I want light, though admittedly doesn't light up as far ahead.
G/f has an IQ-X on her tourer which seems to be fine for now - we'll see if hers lasts longer than mine did.
Haven't compared the two, but I've had a couple of IQ-X and have been super happy with them. The first one developed a wobbly reflector after a while, but my bike (and light) got stolen before I got round to doing something about it. The second one has been going a couple of years, riding in all weathers with no issues. I like the option of being able to mount it upside down and how bright it is, the XS looks like a good (and cheaper) option though.
