Interesting.

So far for my yet to be received Puffin I've nearly bought some On-one Carbon forks (didn;t like the graphics) and some of those (didn't have a hub).

I'm hoping it turns up mid-month before it becomes the first bike I've bought upgrades for before I actually receive it 🙂

I thought the whole idea of fat bikes was that the tyres are the suspension. Isn't this is a bit like a suspension seatpost on a full sus bike?

Are you making a spacer for the hub Chris? Or do you have a new wheel coming?

neil - there's no rebound, so it's not good suspension.

I built a couple of wheels with Hope Fatsno hubs and your rims and spokes
and have had to make 2 x 7.5 mm endcaps ( I believe Hope are doing a 150 hub soon )
also made a spacer for the disk +7 mm

Headset I used the original Smoothie and just needed to machine out the crown race as it had a 1.5 bearing in

I'm interested in how it will ride; what the longer a-c will do to the handling, etc.

I just put the carbon Fatty fork on mine.

Looks good. The fatty fork is pretty long so the bluto won't upset the handling all that much.

I was out on mine this morning and I've decided that its possibly the funniest and most capable hardtail I've ever ridden. The speed I can get up to on the local singletrack is quite amazing. I've also decided that 80 or 100mm of travel is simply not enough. I reckon something like this needs 160 or 180mm of the plushest, under-damped, American monster-truck style squidge. Like a kona Entourage that's been given botox.

Fatty forks are 470mm long - so it's perfect for 80-100mm suspension on the front. It's almost as if we knew what was coming 😉

Oh that does look good - any idea what it would weigh? For some reason I want to take one to the Alps. Even if it is significantly less suitable than either the Dh or "Enduro" bike.

I thought the whole point of Fatbikes (excluding sand and snow) was that they didn't need any suspension?

The whole point of fatbikes (excluding sand and snow) is to have massive fun on them. Do you think suspension will somehow diminish that?

Does in not make it quite awkward rattling those maracas all the time you're riding? 😆

Looks loads of fun. Top work 😀

If you do a search you'll find something 8 years ahead of it's time. A Turner 6 pack fat bike.

I'm now having random thoughts about Land Rovers. Why they don't have no suspension when the tyres should be fine as they are.. or if anyone has built a Land Rover with bigger tyres and decided to have no suspension.

Aye, probably not :O)

Cos they don't have arms and legs to stick the body on top of innit 😉

Well a week in and tried it on a few local ( yorkshire dales ) trails and its very good on all the ones so far.
And nope having bounce on the front has not diminished the fun at all
it has meant my wrist ( fubared from 35 years of wielding a stanley knife ) does not suffer as much when the gnar gets gnarly .

I think it has transformed the Fatty from fun to funtastic , Rockshox have made a cracker with the Bluto
