Most pics and build have focussed, quite rightly, on the burlier side of trail riding. But has anyone adopted a more "XC" approach?

Anyone running lightweight kit like XTR and/or XC wheels?

Oh - and anyone with a Ti Ragley - what is the maximum rear tyre width you've managed to squeeze in?

my Pig is very XC but the bits were all taken from donor bikes and are 5 or more yrs old, had to do it on the cheap 🙄
Smattering of Race Face bits, stem from lbs spares bin(floor!! ), XT mechs, Hayes brakes, set of 3rd hand wheels with Hope(crap)hubs. Was running a set of 3rd hand Marz forks until cold weather caused the air to escape from forks, now running `05 Fox

Hmm- I'm trying to rationalise the herd a little. I need a real "do it all" hardtail, even if that means having to swap wheels and stuff occasionally.

Oh - and anyone using a rack/panniers on any of the above?

My Bop took all the kit off my Soul originally- 130mm Revelations, XTR cranks, Roval Traversee rims, carbon bars and seatposts etc. I'm a bit of a weightweenie at heart 😉 The forks have grown (but not added weight) and it's got a dropper seatpost now but it's still my XC bike. I'm not really sure how much it weighs, though.
