I am experiencining quite a bit of noise from the rear brake on my Blue Pig, fully built example with Hayes Stroker brake.
The caliper is tight to the frame and the brake pulls up ok its just the noiss it makes.
Also it may be all part of the bedding in process but the Rockshox Sector are quite creaky as well
Anyone else experienced this?
I have Hayes Strokers on my Inbred (came of my previous Kona) and they have always made a heck of alot of noise. On one ride at Glentress it sounded like I was murdering a donkey on my way down the hill the honking noise was so bad!
Also they are a nightmare to get set up - the pads drag on the rotor constantly.
Am about to ditch mine for some Avids as I am tired of constantly readjusting them.
Probably not that helpful but my Strokers (gram front and carbon rear but with Ashima rotors) are the quietest disc brakes I've ever used! No squeal and way easier to keep set up than my Hopes. The Hopes look nicer though...
My advice would be to stick with them for a couple more rides - with a bit of luck they'll quieten down.
The strokers on my Mmmbop don't make a sound. Can't remember whether they were noisy from the start though. Disk contamination maybe?
Discs coated in a film of dirt / oil probably.
My Hopes do it when they get wet after a period of dry riding. After you scrub the muck off on a couple of descents they're ok.
Sounds like Flipsy The Seal being tortured.
