Does anybody else suffer from this?
I was wearing clear glasses, was only out for 2 hours, drank a 650ml bottle of water
Get any mud or water in there?
no
Did you get bitten by a werewolf as you were riding along?
i ended up with really bloodshot eyes after one tour (week long). i'd lost my glasses and didn't find another pair that i liked until i got back home.
i was suffering from "dry eye" caused by the wind drying my eyes out. i got some drops that helped.
now i never descend without either a pair of sunnies or clear (safety) glasses. i still get red eyes from time to time but that is due to the drugs.....
Have you tried blinking?
+1 for blinking, transformed my riding.
Does it happen during the day? Any blood pressure issues? Tired-er in the evenings? Pints on the night rides?
Dunno really mate. Guessing if it was me in the same situation....
#Edit: probably not that useful really.
@smell_it - thats a damn fine idea! (although said in jest, there may be an element of truth in that) - I wonder if I am blinking less due to darkness!
I'll try to conciously blink more next time on a night-ride!

PMSL!
I get bloodshot eyes when I singlespeed up steep hills. I'd rather that than piles.
Did you stop for a fattyboombatty half way round?
I think exercising at night affects sleep quality (for the worse). I can't settle for ages if I've been out for a ride.
So maybe you're just tired. Or it's mudeye.
