I was idly browsing Merlin earlier and they've got some good deals on merckx bike, specifically female versions.  Looking at the geometry, the large female version is very similar to the med male barring an extremely long head tube (40mm longer on the f version) and a shorter seat tube.  I like quite an upright position anyway so the HT length probably not an issue. I'm short legged so the short ST might be a bonus.

Anything else to look out for geo wise? Can I suffer the shame of knowing I'm riding a girls bike? 🙂

it's this one:

You might find the associated women's clothing a little wide in the hips and narrow across the shoulders

If it fits it fits, we've sold "mens" bikes to tall women and ladies bikes to guys. Fit is everything and mens/female bikes are nonsense really. Maybe get a wider handlebar & a non female specific saddle but if the bike fits you it's fine

Have been wondering the same recently.

Some great deals on (Canyon) female road bikes with the added bonus of funkier colour schemes.

Surely with different stem or layback post you can make a bike fit.

This, if you can go try it then why not, might need a saddle and maybe bars depending on your shoulders etc.

Maybe stuff should be sold by size/fit rather than gender? Ah, no, hang on. Then we wouldn't have to pay extra for a pink frame with crapper bits fitted...

My Wife's got a Specialized Myka hardtail that I have only ridden for short periods on the road, but the fit, sizing & geometry seems to suit me quite well. I keep meaning to take it for a proper ride one day. Only thing is, it's got butterflies on the top tube... 🙂

And, I've ridden my sister's Felt road bike to give her gears a tweak & that too felt like a pretty good fit.

Not sure what this means.....

Don't worry, you won't turn into a Little Britain parody 😛

the canyon road bikes appear to be a paintjob and a saddle.

really?  i'm pretty sure that is the case for their MTBs, but i was under the impression that the top tube was lower and shorter for lady road bikes.

if they are the same then i'll definitely keep an eye on their outlet page.

Gerrard Vroomen, previously of Cervelo, believes gender-specific bikes are nonsense.

With the amount of adjustment required to get a bike to fit anyway, I'm inclined to believe him.
