My left ear is all bunged up with yucky wax, which shop bought un blockerer actually works? I've tried Oatex in the past and to be honest it didn't do anything. I don't want to go to the docs to have the waterjet treatment just yet- if nothing else works then I will.
So, recommend me an unblockerer!

Hopi ear candles.
Seriously. Had it done about 5 or 6 years ago and it is amazing.
Just go to the docs and get the waterjet. I messed around for weeks trying olive oil etc and then just went and got it done. It's actually not that unpleasant and instant results.
Ear candles are new age rubbish
Olive oil's worth doing- it's not likely to work if you're totally bunged but they'll recommend you do it before irrigation anyway.
(I will not recommend it, but it's possible to safely clean out your own ears with a syringe- just the exact same as getting it done by a pro. But I'm sure it's also possible to horribly maim yourself doing this)
Don't buy a 'product', use a few drops of warmed olive oil (warming helps, like when you wash your hands: cold water vs hot). Just been to the doc's (nurse) to have mine cleaned but the machine (no longer just a syringe) was bust, going back next week if a twice daily dose of olive oil hasn't worked. The olive oil should gently softens the wax, which may then move out of your ear naturally.
When examining my ears, the nurse said to use the olive oil even if returning next week, as my one ear's wax was too dry to clean effectively (both very full!).

EDIT: I would not recommend trying to syringing your own ears, you risk perforating your ear drum, even with the new 'pulse' machines. I'd been made to sign a waver at the doctors, before seeing the nurse (and discovering the machine was broken).
Ear candles spoiler (the wax is already in the candle)
...plus they can cause serious burns to the ear canal. 🙁

Motorhead , ace of spades should do it 😉
I've found olive oil far better than any shop bought unblockerer.
I've suffered with blocked ears since a child and tried everything, including ear candles (very relaxing but completely ineffective in my experience). I usually use a drop or two of olive oil a day for a couple of weeks and then go to the nurse who then jet washes my ear. It's a bit messy and two weeks of oily lug holes is an inconvenience but it's the only thing that works for me.
I have just been fitted for custom fit ear protection at my work, i was told never to clean my ears with cotton buds and if they were ever to get blocked then use a little warm olive oil and to massage my ears with the palm/heel of my hand while in the shower when the wax has had a chance to warm up.
I used to have awful problems with ears getting blocked up.
My GP used to resist the syringe.
Olive oil and all the rest never worked. Then I'd moan and get the syringe until I blocked up again a year later.
Then I read somewhere it's OK to use cotton buds, BUT ONLY ONCE YOUR EARS have been syringed.
So last time I had my ears syringed I use a cotton bud once a week to keep things clean and clear. Never had any trouble since.
Take care whilst doing it and don't use them to clear a blockage. You'll push the wax further in.
I had a blocked ear once for about 3 weeks, was told to drink a pint in one. A huge (like the size of a big pea) bit of ear wax fell out on the table, to the amusement of my mates. It did thro my balance off for the evening though - nowt to do with the next 8 pints..
I previous got a prescription which turned out to be just peanut oil in a tiny bottle. Use olive oil. Lay on your side and drop it in and then leave it for half hour. Do the same the next day and then the wax will ease
Hopi ear candles.
Bollocks.
Olive oil to soften (most GPs wont let you make the appointment if you haven't done this) then appointment with practice nurse for what people still call syringing but isn't really that now.
Be careful how much you warm the olive oil before you use it, the ear is far more sensitive to heat than your fingers, and once you've realised it's a bit too hot for comfort, it's also a bit too late to do anything about it.
I've had problems with earwax for over 25 years and have had them syringed many times. However, doctors are more reluctant to do this now, so I use Otex Combi pack (all good chemists will sell) which includes drops and your own personal rubber syringe device. 2-3 days of drops and then blasting some warm water into your ears with the syringe has worked every time for me.
Plug in Baby - muse, always rattles my earwax loose 🙂
Digging big clods of dirty wax out of your ears is one of lifes great pleasures.
I used a bent wire coat hanger to unblock the bog this morning, that might be worth a shot.
Anyone wanna guess what was causing the blockage?

Cotton Buds?
For ear drops - bicarbonate of soda. By far the best I've ever used. Recommended to me by a work mate who's kid has a chronic problem, bicarbonate has helped him tons.
For a quicker and more satisfying conclusion? Get your ears vacuum cleaned. Seriously. NHS do it in place of syringing for kids and you can get it done from various hearing centres from £35. It's a tiny vacuum tube that goes in your ear canal and sucks the wax out. Much nicer than syringing and instantly unblocked wax free ears. You get to see the inside of your ears on a monitor too! 😀 vacuuming is also much safer for your eardrums.
Spin, nope

The other half is an ENT surgeon and recommends 10-14 days of olive oil before considering syringing.
Thanks for the advice everyone! I'll give the Olive Oil a bash.
Ear Candles sound totally barmy :
🙂
Going bed so just in case anyone is on tenter hooks unable to sleep without knowing, a gert big **** off candle. One of them scented jobs women tend to randomly scatter around the house. 2yo must have lobbed it down there while he was having a wander round the house inbetween him waking up and waking us up.
Tidy.
