My XT brakes have seen virtually no use in the past year and on inspection ahead of next weekends big bike bash they are badly in need of a bleed. When I fitted them I filled them top down using the tube and bag that they came with but they've always been a bit spongy. Will the £50 bleed kit on CRC help? Or can it be done "bottom up" with a syringe from the vet??
I bleed mine like car brakes, no need for a syringe. Theres a good guide on youtube, will see if i can find it!

I find air gets trapped in the caliper. Tapping it gently works, or I have had best results pumping the pistons out a bit then opening the bleed nipple and push the piston back in. Repeat several times. This is done using the top down method.
