Just spent the evening trying to bleed my hope minis for the first time and could not seem to eliminate all the air. Despite it seeming to work in that it pushed out some nice big air bubbles initially there always seemed to be some very very tiny bubbles in the fluid when pumping the lever - is this normal or should it be completely bubble free. This seemed to happen no whether I used the hope kit or did it manually. Cheers for any help/advice.

hey dude, the bubbles u were seeing are just bubbles of air getting in from the bleed screw , if u have pumped say 4 lots of oil from the master cylider to the slaves it will be fine.

u have to open the bleed screw the right amount , dont open it too far, just enough to force oil through.

OK, so where are the tiny bubbles coming from and how do I get rid of them. Pumped about 7 or 8 reservoirs of fluid through and they were still there. Using the bleed kit fluid was clear until I pumped the lever as suggested in the instructions then got a little puff of bubbles then clear again.

It's possible that you have a leaky seal in the master cylinder, but it's more likely to be a small amount of air that's risen up the hose, it happens a lot. Just keep flicking the lever until it stops(sometimes takes ages)as any air in the system will lead to inconsistent braking.

Dont forget, there will be air in suspension in the fluid. Unless you depressure the fluid you will get bubbles. Use a syringe to pull the fluid from the reserviour once its full and closed. For an example look at the instructions for the Avid brakes.
