Is there any way you can bleed Avids without the bleed kit? There is a distinct absence of a bleed nipple but there is a hex screw in the middle of the hose connection that doesn't hold the hose to the caliper. I was wondering if I could use this to drain the old fluid and bleed it as you would a normal brake (i.e motorbike brakes/ hope.) Can anyone shed some light on this?
Thanks
Iain
There was a budget bleed kit plan floating about on here for a while - google might find it...
I found them hard enough to bleed with the kit, I dont think bleeding it your way would work. But I could be very wrong...
How does the kit work?
Iain
I have used a Formula brake bleed kit on Avid brakes. Its a bit cheaper but you don't get spare olives etc.
Heres the link to the home made one:

And a video with the right ones:
Please wear glasses when you do it - for some reason everytime I did mine I ended up with brake fluid fountains... probably why I could never get them bleed tbh... 🙂
