I was bleeding my SLX brakes and all went well until I came to screwing the bleed port cap back into the reservoir. It will only go finger tight before seemingly popping back out a little. Feels like a cross thread at some point, but it seemed to come out ok, and I'm fairly sure I didn't damage it on re-entry.
The thing is, it seems to hold pressure and there is no fluid coming out, even with a hard squeeze. So, do I just ignore it, should I get a new cap, or is the whole lever assembly duff?
Any advice appreciated.

The bleed screw is steel and the caliper alloy to it would be likely if anything is damaged it's in the caliper thread?
edit ... sorry you said reservoir ...
Have you made sure you have the little rubber O ring goes on the screw???
I'm pretty sure the O-ring is there - maybe I need to push it up to the cap a bit more?

That's thanks to the nature of the open system, ti doesn't mean that the cap is sealing properly.
I think it's foooked. Just can't tighten it and the thread on the cap is fine. I bought these second hand as I liked the reach adjuster, but could I transfer a deore lever assemble on to this? New olives and connector pipe thing of course.
Has it got the O ring seal present ??? If not it won't tighten all the way... these are really easy to drop/lose...
You can buy a SLX or XT lever fairly cheap ... £28 or Wiggle/Reactions at the moment for SLX ... and the same from Bikeinn for XT and £36 from WiggleReactions.
Yes o ring present. Does it need to be in the middle of the thread?

I've sorted / bodged it. Turns out a disc bolt is almost the same thread. Had to tap a bit of new thread in the reservoir body but now I have a nice fitting bleed screw with a big torx socket. It's longer too.
An improvement I think. Might even do the other side where the allen socket is smoothed off so I have to use pliers.
