I have a few sets of Shimano brakes which will require hose shortening, etc before fitting.

I had a Shimano bleed kit from Epic...but have lost it 🙂

So...another one from Epic?

Thanks.

For modern Shimano brakes it's just a syringe/tube and the wee funnel. I just bought the Shimano bits. I still have the old style "clamp on" collector bottle too.

If you are only shortening then you can do it carefully and hopefully not need a bleed. Still worth having, though. I just use the shimano funnel and a short length of silicone hose.

This.

Get the Shimano funnel and syringe/tube off eBay.

If you haven't already seen it, this is well worth a watch. Works a treat. Only requires a funnel.

Beaten to it by qwerty. All you need Is the funnel, some oil and the Santa Cruz bleed video.

Works every time.

From experience I'd suggest bleeding Shimano brakes is good for their lifetime not simply when you think it needs it.
Again, just experience but the common problem seems to be that the master piston gets sticky and then you bleed it and black gunk comes out but the stuff stuck behind the piston doesn't... then leading to a painfully long, fiddly disassembly and clean for a £30ish part...

Thanks for the funnel tip. I'll use that in future.

I did think every time he said 8mm: "it's 7, isn't it?" So I had a lol when he realised!

I did the method above for the first time earlier today with fresh pads (Deore 4 pots). It was easy, quick and vert low hassle.

Lever feels nice again too, just need to bed new pads in next.
