Do the black chilli compound wear Any faster than continental normal compound? Also ride on road so don't want them to wear out to fast

Last for bloody ages! But i suspect any decent amount of road miles will kill anything

3000+ easily for a rear road tyre.

Tyre in question is a mountain king, i commute to work with a mix of on and off road, was going for a ust but BC is only £5 more. I know the cheap wire bead lasts well but lacks grip. Also read about the knobs coming off?

Last time I rode a non-chili Conti, was a rubber queen. Terrible offroad, as expected, but I didn't expect to find out it wasn't even good enough for road use- I crashed outside the visitor's centre at Glentress at the t-junction, going round the corner slower than I usually do!

Black chili doesn't make the knobs very long-lasting on the X-king but I think that's mostly due to the smaller block sizes (they kind of snap off) and also the harder compound (more prone to snapping). The UST BC Rubber Queens seem to last for ever - tough sidewalls and long-lasting tread. I wouldn't pay for a non-BC Continental tyre and I wouldn't ride one off road in anything other than dry conditions.

From Continental themselves: "The Black Chili compound rubber has 26% lower rolling resistance, 30% more grip, and 5% better wear life than Contiental's own natural rubber tires."

I doubt that the variation is consistent from compound to compound - every tyre with black chili additive has a different compound. The DH tyres are a million miles removed from the road tyres in terms of stickiness and rolling speed.
