I read someplace that Bkool had locked certain features so it couldnt be used for certain training software or on an ipad or something like that? Is this true still?? Whats the difference between this and say the wahoo snap? Im tempted to buy one, the Bkool looks a good deal at the moment at £389 froma few places. Cheers.
Come on, someone must have experience of this! 🙂

Looks like you have to do an update but yes....I don't own a Bkool or Zwift
You will need to use Bluetooth to connect to the ipad Zwift app. it should work just fine. although i dont have a Bkool trainer myself to "prove" it. The Bkool website states it is compatible with zwift. as above, always do a firmware update as best practice.
Right good, I saw it said you can you it with zwift on their website, but felt a bit confused when reading a review by someone who owned the pro 2 and stated they couldn't link it via ipad due to restrictions by Bkool themselves. Just checking this isnt the case, thanks.
I've the first gen Pro (pretty much identical to the Pro2 bar a few small changes) and that works with Zwift
Only used it on a laptop though not an iPad (don't want to pay around £60 for ai pad compatible ant+dongle)
I would suggest though the BKool software is IMO better than Zwift anyway, bigger choice of real world routes, video routes as well as computer graphics, decent training programmes and velodrome sessions. It makes Zwift seem more of a video game. Not to mention its also now significantly cheaper per month than Zwift
In terms of the trainer it's the only smart one I've tried so can't compare to others but I like it, resistance changes seem effective and quite quick, it connects to the laptop no issues and that's without any kind of use extension lead, it's quite noisy compared to my previous Minoura but that was known for being one of the quietest around so no great shakes
From unpacking to using it was literally less than 10 minutes, and most of that was figuring out the BKool, software as the user interface isn't as polished as Zwift
Zwift is hard to beat its so popular with always a 1000 plus online. Look at the reviews here of the apps. Ive tried quite a few. But Zwift has been the best, most people online, races, workouts, pros online etc Check out what your cycling club is using. Ours is certainly 90% Zwift 10% trainer road.

DC Rainmaker is the go to source for everything turbo trainer
Thanks for the reply'd people, Im interested in the Bkool software. Im not sure in the pro 2 ive seen online comes with either 3 months trial of the software or sometimes when ive clicked the link on the bkool website it says 1 year, BUT not always??? Whats that about ha!
If I was using an ipad then could I just use the bluetooth facility in that? I do think the Bkool software sounds tempting indeed. Ive had a trail go on zwift and that was pretty darn good too but I like the idea of more variation on bkool.
I have an original Bkool trainer and have done FEC upgrade. I tried ZWIFT and would agree with the comment above that their software has the edge what with the ability to ride actual roads that have been uploaded, rather than a cartoon (on a laptop)
So I emailed Bkool and they have told me that if you connect to zwift via ipad then zwift CANNOT control the resistance of the trainer? Whats that about. This might be just via bluethhoth though, they dont make it clear in email. ANyone know about this, cheers.
if you connect to zwift via ipad then zwift CANNOT control the resistance
Possibly that is just if you are connecting via bluetooth as I don't think there is a standard for bluetooth control of trainers. Ant+ FE-C via a dongle may work...have you checked the info on DC Rainmaker? Or asked Zwift?
