Frames are £400 new on ebay, and they do a nice steel rigid fork for £140 with massive clearance and a thru axle

This is kind of a PSA post, but I'm more interested in whether anyone else has heard of them?

Never heard of them. Looking at the news section on their site it looks like they only started up this year. Definitely keenly priced frames.

Interesting...

That commuter with the thin tube betwixt top tube and down tube... what's with that then? *

(Genuine question, not trying to be a dick. Nice to see people trying different stuff.

Some conspicuous mug-dangling though 😉 )

* EDIT: This, apparently (from the advntr.cc article - https://advntr.cc/meet-your-maker-bivibikes/):

Oh, that’s what it’s for!
The elephant in the room is the extra tube in the front triangle. Look closely at what seem to be an additional set of bottle bosses. Fraser explained “I’ve seen a number of bikes where a fully packed, full-size frame bag can bulge and interfere with your pedalling. This design allows the use of modular bolt in luggage that will help reduce bulging”. This is a good idea. Two smaller bags have almost the same capacity as a larger one, and you can just run the top bag with a pair of bottle cages below.

Fraser has some bespoke bags ready for production in June, so the option of adding these to your frame order will be available soon on the BiViBikes website.

TBH think the requirement for bespoke frame bags (that then wouldn't fit any other bikes) would put me off.

That Brace on the Drop 700c bike scares me a little, why is it there? If it's for strength then surely the design is wrong? For a bike designed for adventure, it's going to screw up using a frame bag at the least.

That brace looks to be optional. I thought exactly that about it getting in the way of a frame bag, but they actually sell it as a luggage support. It seems to have a pair of bottle cage mounts underneath it.

EDIT:

Ah, from the site:

It (the Bunker+ with the extra bar) features an additional support frame design to carry more gear, more water or our integrated bivi shelter due out in 2020.

Edit two... Mickey beat me to it

The last photo of the fork has a dent in it! Unless it has some kind of function? Clearance?

Looks like rotor clearance to me

I dig that weird extra tube. it reminds me of these, in a good way.

{EDIT: FFS - tried to post a picture of a Kona Humuhumunukunukuapu]

But - and this is a completely unfounded suspicion - all of those frames look like absolute boat anchors. I bet they're even heavier than Charges.

There appear to be some issues with the info. on their site.

15.5" reach on the flatbar but 16.6" on the dropbar? 'relaxed' headtube angle of 70°? Seatube angle of 64mm? Other than that they look interesting.

Interesting but the fork says clearance for 2.2. Not enough for me. Also not convinced by the extra tube. A divider sewn into the bag would be a lighter way of achieving the same effect.

2.2 isn't enough for a bike packing gravel bike?

Why not? What size do you want and why? Just curious, not trying to be a dick as @thenorthwind so elegantly put it.

Do we have any figures for the weight of the frame and fork?

A 415mm fork is quite low. Would it even fit a 29” wheel...

Fork clearance is just personal preference. I’m completely sold on the benefits of 29x3 on a rigid bike.

415mm is somewhere between 16 and 17in so plenty of room for a 29in wheel

Steel forks like that are ~40mm crown depth so you're down to 375mm, that's the radius of a 29 x 2.4 so dust-room on a 2.35 but fine for a 700 x 45 or the 2.2 is says fits.
