Started doing a (slightly overdue) lower leg service on my Rockshox Zeb Ultimates yesterday. I dropped the lowers, and saw what I initially thought was a destroyed damper cartridge wrapped around bottom of the damper side leg.
On closer inspection, it turned out to be a carbon copy QA checklist!
What. The. Actual. ****!?
To be honest, I’m not even mad as it’s just so funny.
anyway, time for some pics…

Well, at least it's not signed off
RS will probably tell you it's thier new lightweight bottom-out damper....
Actual LOL
Lucky boy. Usually only the pros get that kind of special modification.
@matt_outandabout forget Buttercups, this fork’s got Paper Cups 😁
Look on the bright side, the state of the paper suggests that this set of RockShox had a decent amount of oil in the lowers from new 😀

☝️ Painfully true.
Next week:
"Does anyone know what weight of paper Rockshox use for their QA checklists? I removed mine and now my fork is less supple."
Good. But not as good as the Milwaukee impact driver Tesla left under my boot carpet.
so I’m not really sure what they can do
Yeah apart from apologise...Dunno. Still, it'll be interesting to see what they say. What a cock-up!
Wow. I was dubious that the thread would live up to the title but it did!
I think it must have been the Flight Attendant who left the note.... Lost In Transmission...
Have you checked for any secret message?
Help, I am being forced to work for no wages..
What's in the box? (other leg)
We all know Chinesium carbon frames are made out of papier-mâché, but I didn't realise it was fork dampers too...
We had a large fleet of Iveco chassis cabs all reporting fuel filling issues after their conversions. Turned out the specialist body fitter had thought the fuel filler neck was the most convenient place to shove their conversions docs for each vehicle!
I'll never trust anything you say about the traits of a bike if you've not noticed that impact the ride! I mean, I wouldn't, but I'm suspension blind.
Doesn't everyone tune their fork damping with a bit of papier mache? 😆
I’d wager good money on no one being able to tell it was there, especially if this was their first and only experience of a Zeb. Without comparisons, most bike and kit reviews are meaningless

It's certainly damper than I expected.

Except it's mostly been soaked up by a bit of paper, so it may as well have been bone dry still.
Wait till you open the uppers, SRAM's new factory fitted volume Spacer is probably a severed Human finger.

Or maybe a toe-ken?
Or maybe a toe-ken?
Let's just hope the adjuster knobs are all standard issue.
So theres a QC guy wandering the halls looking for his signoff sheet , you should move heaven and eart to tell him its fine
That the equivalent of a Wonka golden ticket?
That the equivalent of a Wonka golden ticket?
Haha.
Please ask them this OP!
What would the prize be though? Keys to the SRAM factory or maybe just a guided tour?
Evidence that RockShox have been contracting out assembly to Boeing technicians...?
Were they manufactured on 1st April.
Just think of the PB commentators losing their jizz over this.
You know when you really, really, really need a wee?
Now, it could be that they ran off to the loo, stuffing the sheet into the lowers in their panicked haste.
You might wanna re-wash your hands before reading the other scenario; they needed a wee so bad, they did it in the lowers; the were holding the QA sheet in their hand by their fly and the sheer ferocity of the piss stream drove the document clean out of their hand and embedded it in the lowers; not wanting to touch it, let alone cause undue attention by trying to dispose of the sodden mess, they just went about their business and filled the remaining volume with oil to disguise their actions.
Have a word with yourself please.
Bit of an update to this after a weekends riding at Dyfi. Long story short, the fork is more active and I’m getting full travel (I initially thought I wasn’t getting full travel because I wasn’t riding hard enough to bottom out the fork).
Haven’t heard anything from SRAM yet mind you…

I have written back to you, just having trouble finding the letter, I had it a minute ago but I seem to have mislaid it. Let me just finish getting this fork sorted and I'll have a proper look for it.
I'd be doing a Twitter post @SRAM asking for the part number of the form, because you want to rebuild your fork with the correct parts it came with. Including the photos obviously.
I’m getting full travel
Slight hijack, but what length travel is it set at?
I couldn't get full travel at 180mm - and I'm pretty sure I didn't notice a QC form installed when I did a lowers service.
@chakaping - set to 180mm (allegedly).
needs to be a pretty big hit though - I doubt I’d get full travel riding normally in the lakes, but the bigger impacts at Dyfi seemed to get there
Good to know cheers.
As the bike is currently 160mm rear / 180mm front I don't expect to get full travel very often at all - but it's very reluctant to get into that last 10mm or so.
Do you reckon you could complain and get a new set of forks?
@zerocool - I don't know. If I'm honest, it would feel like a bit of a dick move as I couldn't see any damage to the internals
Good. But not as good as the Milwaukee impact driver Tesla left under my boot carpet.
Sure, you get a decent impact driver out of it.....
Tesla QC is notoriously bad.
