Wow! It was bloody spectacular before the crash! Then the crash.... I'm actually always amazed this sort of thing doesn't happen more often. I mean, it's a mass start, on snow and ice. Crazy dudes.
Anyone else think they looked like ants?
Holy sheeeet!
There are more than a few sore ones there.
The wise ones were baling out well before the carnage & still coming badly off!
Who won?
The bloke on the ebike?
🤷♂️
This amply demonstrates why skis were invented.
I watched the second video which was the headcam of the winner - the first bit seemed the easiest section. His body must have been in pieces by the end. Weirdly there were only a handful of people at the finishing line to cheer.
Spectators gather where it's spactacular not at the finish. When rallying a mass of spectators meant the same as a caution board.
I remember when the Megavalanche used to be tens of riders rather than hundreds. There are simply too many now, it needs to be set off 25 at a time with 2 minute intervals IMO with a qualifying run over a 500m section so people in each group are unlikely to hold up the following group.
Just watched the start of the winning run - the way those guys actually sprint down the glacier to get more speed... max speed on something you can't slow down on. Incredible.
I'm not normally a fan of DH videos but that headcam footage of the winning run was impressive. Given that Gopros normally flatten things out there's some pretty steep trails there especially below the mid-way village.
The mass crash. Wow.
The winners head can footage..... almost super human.
About a trillion places that could have gone very, very badly.
True bucket list stuff right there.👍

That's what I was thinking. And he cuts across some of those switchbacks. Totally amazing effort by the winner. Thirty minutes of full tilt!
There’s some very serious speed being carried in those last five minutes or so (after the push-up bit) and the switchback corner cutting takes a) some balls and skill and b) serious course pre-knowledge.
But then, Kilian Bron is a class act....
