MTB obviously. Needs to be a day trip from here (Ross on Wye). Peaks are a bit far. Not bothered about trail centres as conditions are so good.

Quantocks is currently the fav. 90 mins or so away. Never really ridden in the Mendips but don’t know any routes. Could do a Black Mountains classic but did the gap last week. Exmoor probably just a bit too long a drive.

Don’t really mind what kind of riding it is as long as it’s fun and will take most of the day. Any other suggestions/routes?

We’ve ridden the FoD loads this summer. I was out in Staunton Wednesday night and it was riding superbly, but I fancy a day out. Did the gap last week. Could do the Y Das loop but fancy something completely new.

We had a couple of fab days down there last autumn. It’s an option...

That’s not a bad shout. Not ridden up there since the Trans-Cambrian last year. And since the forecast isn’t for driving rain and 40mph winds, it’d be a good day to go back!

Yeah I’ve always been a bit underwhelmed. Love Minton Bach of course but never really got that excited about the rest of the loop we do from there. I rode the Stiperstones years ago and remember that being fun. Maybe we just need to try a different route.

Quantocks are running really well at the moment. Bit of rain has taken the sketchyness away so it's nice and grippy. Lots of great trails in a small space. Happy to put you on to some good stuff if you've never been.

As it's your birthday, you could treat yourself to the extended version...

I so want to return to the Mendips, this time on the road bike, rather than on the Wazoo I climbed a few cat3s last November,
