Next year I celebrate (or should that be mourn) a significant birthday. Instead of throwing a party I've decided I'm running away and having a holiday doing something I want to do, i.e. a mountain bike trip to foreign climes! 😀

I've got a few ideas of where I want to go, but the problem is my birthday is at the end of April, so the likes of Whistler and other ski resorts are unlikely be an option. Moab or Morocco really appeal, but there don't seem to be many trips around the dates I'm looking for. 😥

Takiing into account that I like trail riding and I'm not really into downhill etc. Do any of you have ideas for places to go and/or companies who I should look at??

Thanks 🙂

I went with Switchbacks Spain - All mountain holidays for my 30th birthday. Excellent trails and great place. I've been back 5 times since. I've ridden Whistler, Squamish etc and I'd choose the Sierra Nevada over them. The "natural" trails there are excellent!

My big 50 next year and it looks like we are celebrating in Moab. Got to be done before the old knees give up!

a significant birthday

my birthday is at the end of April

Same here on both accounts, 40 on the 30th to be precise.

I'm laying the groundworks for 2 weeks in Whistler in Aug next year. I know it's after the event but it still counts.

It's good to know I'm not the only one not planning on growing up at 40.

For my 40th I went out to Joy Riders in Spain - excellent. No problem being by myself as well.

Don't get me wrong, I love the 7 Stanes, in fact I'm from SW Scotland and practically grew up in D&G, well close to Stranraer.

But I'm looking for somewhere with warmer & slightly more predictable weather where I don't have to hassle with family, etc. 🙄

Also I'm having 2 weeks holiday up home in September and I'll be doing as much of the 7 Stanes as I can then.

Spain could be interesting!

Please keep the suggestions coming. 😀

Thanks
