Hello,

Lucy here who is Joe’s better half.

I’ve i’ve recently got more seriously into cycling and bought my first pair of women’s Women’s, sportful bib shorts recently.

The shorts fit well, but the braces on them seem to have been designed for people who don’t have breast?!! The straps run right over where my nipples should be???!! Is this normal in a women’s specific product!

Lucy - you might want to open your own account and post on the Woman's sub-forum.

While you might get some decent, sensible answers here Lucy, you might be better setting up your own profile and asking in the Women's forum - https://singletrackmag.com/forum/forum/womens/ . Unless Joe's set his pronouns to 'she', you're unlikely to be able to access from his profile.

There's also the fun side effect that you can slag him off in there if you ever need to and he won't be able to see... 😀

Where are they, if they're not where they should be?!

Seriously, one of the reasons I don't wear bibs is cos I find them uncomfortable around the man-nip area too.

Bin shorts for women with breasts!

I thought this was a weird kind of petition or something.

Kind of relieved, but much less fun here than expected 😁

There's some good ladies groups on FB that might also be of use if you're on that platform.

I know this place gets split between feminism and stuck in the 70's, but I don't think the solution is to go back to throwing away oppressive undergarments.

some of the posh ones (Castelli maybe?) have a single strap up the centre, I think

Noticed a load of women's bib short reviews going up on BikeRadar recently.

Agree you might get more responses on the womens forum as well. I've only got one pair of bibs, happen to be DHB, and the cross at the back and the front is angled so the straps/braces come over the shoulder at an angle and sit comfortably more around the outside of the boobs. A position something like this The size is a little loose to allow that. And I only really use them on a road bike where the geometry forces you to be more horizontal which affects where your boobs are! It's interesting the bike radar review examples all wear them over the front, that just wouldn't be comfy. I guess there are lots of designs and every one of us is a different shape.

Hi Lucy. There are a few woman here - myself included! I am also big chested and know what you mean. However, I find the bibs that fit me best allow the straps to sit on the out of the breast. My current 3 favourites (all of which are wee stop friendly too) are 7 mesh, Universal Colours and Petrichor Projects, none of which cause strap issues. The ones that sit down the middle of the breast bone tend to not sit nicely on the more ‘industrial’ bras.

Hello Lucy. Fwiw, Mrs Yak tends to do a lot of riding in non-bib shorts as she says they are comfier and better for pee-stops. They all have a wide soft waistband and decent pad. 7mesh, Ale, Rapha usually, whichever is cheaper at the time.

Hello! I have mini boobs and am not qualified to comment in this department but @ahsat has already made the suggestions I would likely have made.

Mrs NBT also eschews bibs for reason of pee-stop convenience.

she likes Castelli (top end, only purchased in the sales!), Gore and Madison

Ms Bruce wears non bib shorts and has a preference for Assos or Rapha.

Sorry for all the typos - smashed out the original thread on J's phone without my glasses on. Should have read bib not bin shorts. Didn't realise there was a female sub-forum... I will create an account.

Thanks for the useful comments.

Assuming you are wearing a sports bra under rather than the bibs direct onto skin?

Thanks for the rare glimpse into the goings-on in the Women's forum.

I can see why so many men on here get upset at missing out 😉

Hi Lucy. There are a few woman here – myself included!

Lol, i just read this post and realised your username is probably 'Tasha' reversed, up until now I thought it was a phonetic spelling of "arse hat"

Me too though I thought it was sort of phonetic oriental accented pronunciation. How many dimwits on one bike forum?

Fat Lad at the Back do a ladies range and I believe that they now do bibshorts - might be an option.

Yes it’s very stupid, my favourite bib tights are DHB which have a gillet type top which of course you can’t get now and so equally I’m stuck. I’ve seen some altura which are similar but I’m not sure about chancing them. Another pair of waterproof have the center strap and they’re ok but I prefer the extra warmth and coverage of the other type.

I only wear padded shorts under baggies so can't help but daughter who is riding every day swears by Specialized SWAT bib shorts. Bit expensive but she keeps an eye out for when they are on offer.
