You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Guys
I am spending the long weekend camping at Inwood. Looking for somewhere to ride near by.
It will be just me - fitting around family and friends. Ideally an easy ride from the camp site. I don't want to drive up to Swinley on the M3.
Any ideas??
There is loads of XC riding around there, are you wanting gpx's? How far do you want to ride? Just on my way out so will check in late this afternoon.
Edit: check this out, scroll down to map layers, scroll further and you'll see off road cycle routes.

Sadly the council seemed to have doing the free two sets of maps packs (now costed download) for the area - you seem to be able to find the routes online tho
google on
basingstoke off road cycle route <place name replace here>
and you might get lucky
*in fact see cg post above as they appear to be on that
That's great guys. Thanks.
I can work out a leg stretcher from these 🙂

Funnily enough I drove past there today in my (successful) attempt to avoid the M3.
If you're new to Hampshire then there's some gorgeous little villages and a huge number of Rights of Way. Happy to answer any specific q's re those routes linked to above.
We stayed at inwood last year.
Seemed a bit expensive for what it was. The firewood was a rip off but then I hate paying for campfire wood.
Nice in the trees though.
Guys - quick update.
I got out on Sunday and used the route card
Nothing taxing - and as it goes it linked a few byways that I bumbled along on last year when we stayed.
One thing - the route card and map (as they tend to be) was okay but not exact.
I took a wrong turn in the bit that links Nutley to Dummer (between sections 13 & 14) which is estate / farm land. My own fault - I was in a hurry as I had just fixed a puncture - when I realised that I had made a mistake. I went to turn around and retrace my steps on the concrete road I had been on for 1500 meters or so, and I was challenged by a farmer / estate worker.
He would not let me retrace my steps, and in an aggressive manner he escorted me out of the estate and onto a nearby B road.
The farmer gave me his opinion on all the cyclists that make that same wrong turn - telling me that we all miss the @@@king big sign (I felt like saying if it was that obvious we would not be having this chat).
Any way benefit of the doubt that I was the straw that broke the camels back - I was on private land - he may well on another day be a nice chap.
[b]Don't get lost in order to find out.

Grumpy so and so. If its so important they should put a gate and keep it closed and/or complain to the council about the leaflet.
Don't quite understand how you managed that, was that at the estate x-roads that dissects a wood? Suspect these days that jobsworths are suspicious of strangers due to thefts of livestock and farm equipment. Years ago I was leading a group in a quiet area and was stopped by a farm worker. He wanted to know where we were going so I told him, it was all on public rights of way and he seemed satisfied with that.
That sounds about the right spot for my Navigation error CG.
But as I said - my fault - no proper map, hurrying after a flat and I was on Private Land when challenged.
I was just taken back by how aggressive the guy was.
Still - it was a nice ride - some good views and I do like ancient drove ways........
Don't understand his aggressive attitude but it may be something to do with pheasant rearing?
Glad you enjoyed the ride and there's plenty of ancient tracks in Hampshire. "Ancient Trackways of Wessex" is my go-to book for learning about them.
