Thinking of trading in my ageing Ford Focus for an affordable bikey/family adventure van.
Been looking at Citroën Berlingos, Peugeot Partners and Fiat Doblos, but does anyone have any other recommendations for suitable models?
I don't want anything too big, as it has to fit on a smallish drive at home. Reckon I'll get £1K max for the Focus (09 plate Zetec Climate 5dr with almost 90k mileage) so ideally looking for something that can be picked up for £3-4K 2nd hand.
Any ideas?
P.S. Replies containing cool pics of kids/bikes in similar vans are positively encouraged!
Puggy Partner here and no complaints...family of 3 and I can get 3 bikes on towball, inflatable canoe and 3 paddles, tent and associated camping gear as well as clothes and 3 bodies in without too much hassle.
When 2 people, the bikes go inside, no bother.
Great as a practical utility vehicle, not a looker and not fast but it does a very good job. Only other downside is peoplethink you are a taxi!
Get one with individual rear seats as they give most space when removed.
Can't think of anything similar really...Ford Connect? Vauxhall Zafira perhaps?
You'll get a nice bingo xtr for that. Remove the middle seat for more room. Nice little fold down tables for the kids to eat.
Pop the bikes and party grill in the boot and off you go.
First generation Ford Galaxy? If you shop around you can get a 2nd generation 07/08 one for around £4k with 100k miles (I did). 2nd generation have the fold flat seats. Both have acres of room and aren't as big as you think, approx same length as Mondeo estate
Do you mean van or car-derived van (or vice versa)? If so, Partner/Berlingo have 3 seats up front in van guise...bit tight for 3 but it can be done. Leaves the rear big enough for 4 washing machines (apparently).
I've had a Doblo for 11 years now and been really pleased with it. It'll be 15 years old next time the MOT comes around and it might well be time to look for something new. I'd have another Doblo but would prefer petrol this time as I only do around 6,000 miles a year. Hard to find a petrol one though that hasn't been adapted for a wheelchair.
