Presume you have visited alpkit.

Tarp, bivvy or tent

Mountain Hardwear Lamina synthetic bags and Alpkit mats have done well for me without spending a fortune.

Summer’s easy.

I use a Vango 3 season Ultralite bag and an (£8 in sale) Lidl/Aldi inflatable mat. It’s sturdy, comfortable and yet tiny when packed

Could go lighter on a more summery bag but that would mean buying twice come autumn

Tent, mat and bag all fit easily into just one of my rear panniers.

Or the sleeping bag packs into bar-harness drybag if I want to leave off the panniers and strap stuff to the bike.

Mountain Hardware Lamina is a great bag but will eat all+ your budget unless you can find a deal.

I'd get a decent mat, and a cheaper bag, especially if you are only going in nice weather, its easy to take an extra base layer or an insulated jacket to boost the bag, but lying on a crap mat on a cold hard floor is miserable. But perhaps the 8 quid Aldi mat is better than I imagine it will be 🙂

As others have said, alpkit, they have 4 mats under 50 quid, I have a Airo 180 for winter bivvy and a lighter thing (expensive) for summer that is in the loft and I can't remember what it is.

Check out OEX at Go Outdoors, decent kit aimed at DoE

2 bottles of buckfast and a bag of chips, you don't have to worry about finding a good Bibi spot😁

Cheap option is a foam mat, less than £10. Better insulation and lighter weight than most inflatable mats.
Disadvantage is the bulk, but you can just strap it on your bag, no worries about it getting damaged etc.

Aegismax UL M2 goosedown sleeping bag. Seem to have gone up in price recently, but decently warm and packs really small. Alpkit Cloudbase mat, or similar from Amazon. Might just go over your limit though

...the M2 may now be known as the Nano 2

+1 Decathlon. I bought a summer bag from them in the sale back in the 90s and had it for 20+ years. Even came with it’s own air-seal compression-sack. The sack lost it’s seal at some point but the bag never let me down.

Thanks for all the useful advice guys. I have managed to find a cheap MH Lamina here:
https://www.sportpursuit.com/catalog/product/view/id/1940335

There are also some Hannah bags which look interesting here too.

I have an early version of this. It's £69 with an extra 15% off

https://www.gooutdoors.co.uk/15981459/eurohike-down-hybrid-sleeping-bag-15981459/?istCompanyId=c2ec8a5d-93c1-4850-a97a-f4d89d7c99c8&istFeedId=2755fba0-7dfe-46a9-bfd0-09b37aed8b93&istItemId=irwiwxrrr&istBid=t&gclsrc=aw.ds&&gclid=Cj0KCQjw2PP1BRCiARIsAEqv-pSIdz9zI_TLYXvOI3kp1Ukiuzzdki5ykh2p_EuFYResu6_UyJ-mMnkaAhHcEALw_wcB

Mines different as older but if you ditch the compression bag it comes with and use a waterproof roll bag it weighs just over 1kg. For the money, size, weight, length 220cm and warmth it's hard to beat.

Damascus that looks just the ticket.. thanks! Choices choices... So that leaves about £40 for a mat. Alpkit sounds like the go-to? Really helpful everyone thanks

Re ground matt. Not all matts are equal.

Some of the cheaper ones don't have any thermal protection. My friend had the alpkit one, it was comfy and light but he felt cold on it. I guess it depends when you use it and If you are a warm or cold sleeper.

He sold it in the end after he used my exped synmatt 7 lw matt. Said it was like night and day. It's expensive but after trying mine he bought one.

I'm not saying buy the exped, but I am saying consider the thermal rating of a matt you buy, not just the weight and size.
