Planning some touring/bike packing and thinking about one of those saddle bag thingies from Alpkit or someone similar. Do they work ok with dropper posts, specifically a reverb Stealth? Are they fine so long as you don't operate the dropper? Any info of tips welcome, as would be recommendations for kit. Ta v much.

yep - fine, just don't drop, and protect post contact points (and entire rest of bike) with tape.

I use my Alpkit tapered drybag with my Stealth Reverb (150mm I think), and use the full travel. Bag is attached with a bungee through the seat rails and straps through the webbing loop round the static part of the seatpost and the frame. Might not work totally stuffed mind.

I've bodged a Wildcat Tiger to work with a KS Lev - again, you just need to think about what is going to move what way - then adapt the strapping.

I use my saddle bag/harness with a Reverb occasionally but don't operate the dropper. My wife uses hers with a dropper all the time, again without operating the dropper.

The only concern I might have (nothing to prove that this might be the case) is the strap around the post scratching it if dirt gets there.

Thanks for these replies. Sounds like it shouldn't be an issue then.

Northwind - do you just use the dry bag instead of an outer, like Alpkit's (currently out of stock) Koala? Seems like a good option of saving dosh and weight.

Greg - what's the Wildcat like, any good?

Revelate Viscacha with a Reverb. Can't use all of the travel but it'll drop enough for it to be a help

It has 2 velcro straps that go round the seat post. I just use one to give it a bit more space
