Trying to find a couple of WTB tyres and this seems to be the only place saying in stock.
Never ordered before from them, some negative stories around. I'm not sure where they are based - Spain?
What's the verdict? Go for it, or avoid...
No issues for me when I've ordered from them.
Had loads of stuff off them back end of last year. No issues.
From experience, in stock means their suppliers are showing as having stock so they'll order it if you order it.
Never failed to deliver just not always quick
yes Spain, usual caveat, check the price very carefully, thank Brexit for potentially getting hit for duty, VAT, handling fees. and watch the shipping times, have seen a few shops warning of weeks because of the current situation.
I would say nay now.
Used them in the past a few times no issue.
I've got a post brexit order in with them now. Invoice looks like I've paid UK VAT at source there so hopefully not a admin fee to pay the Royal Mail too at this end. It's been despatched but tracking now has it having spent 6 days stored in a courier company in Spain. Assuming this means waiting customs release. I hope it'll get here and I don't have to pay anymore (it was a lot less than the £390 duty charge limit) but It'll be a good while.
The ony other hassle with them is the return postage is expensive if you do have to return it. Also it's unclear if you would loose the UK VAT paid if you get a refund.
I would sadly now use a EU online shop as a last resort.
I’ve used them and their other *inn sites, I’m in Spain a few hours from their warehouse and their delivery times are a lottery. I’ve waited a couple of weeks before for an item that was showing in stock to be despatched, cancelled it, reordered the same thing at a now lower price and it’s despatched same day. They’re like a random Amazon, completely unreliable but if you’re in no rush they’re always cheaper.
Thanks all, I'm not in a rush thankfully. Returns does worry me a bit though (incase of any issues or wrong item sent).
Brexit's shit 🙁
Same post Brexit experience as Convert, good delivery in the past and didn’t think about the new implications..... ordered a kids Ski Jacket through SnowInn on the 3rd of Jan, the order sat in the courier warehouse to 15th, it’s now moving but looks like it’s still somewhere in Spain, no estimated delivery date on the website. Hopefully they’ll get slicker in time.
Same experience as everyone else, generally good but not always quick. Also experiencing Brexit-related delays on an item from a different EU store - apparently DPD took it from them, kept it in their warehouse for 2 weeks, and then returned it to them saying they weren't delivering to the UK!
Currently awaiting tracking update from Spain since 29th December.
They've been ok before.
Used them before, all fine just a little slower than most but not sure I would use them right now.
Waiting just now, two weeks from order. It's stuck at import. Invoice says import fees paid so....
Picture of package shows royal mail 48hr label with UK return address., even though sent NLpost in Europe. I wondered if they send a UK consignment.
Stuff from europe is taking ages at the mo. Got two parcels stuck that I ordered on 22nd Dec (not from Bike Inn) but my Bike Inn parcel arrived ok (ordered same day). However, beware of clothing from them as if you want to return it you have to do so via their returns service @ £8 a go. Plus their postage fees are high in the first place.
I have never had any issues with them.
I've always found TrekInn to be brilliant. Only used BikeInn once and it was fairly poor....delivery took over 3 weeks.
Not used either since Brexshit
I would not bother now.
I used them a couple of times last year as prices very keen, but took ages to arrive.
Now with Brexshit there will be VAT and extra handling costs that will make the prices less attractive.
def brexit issues..
ordered some Shimano brakes - ordered the 1st, says handed to GLS (parcel force is a partner) on the 4th - have a picture of the parcel.. no update until 19th, now just says stored at GLS facility in the same town as Bikeinn...
no rush, but can see it taking while
yay
(if not in a rush)
now just says stored at GLS facility in the same town as Bikeinn…
It's keeping mine company!
Did you get a photo of your parcel - not sure I did.
Pre Brexit had them a few times and all was good, if a little slow.
Not sure I would now tbh. Not due to the company, not their fault.
def brexit issues..
Don’t doubt that but They were perfectly capable of being that bad before, believe me!
I use them for multiple things to spread the postage and although everything shows in stock as I order, there’s always something still pending a week later, holding it all up.
Not sure they hold very much at all in their warehouse and it’s all shipped in to order.
had used them before an ok, not super fast, but got there in the end - got a pic of the parcel the day after ordering... but since..
As above I've used them before as prices were very keen. But now with Brexshit there will be VAT and extra handling costs that will make the prices less attractive, and likely more expensive than purchasing from a UK shop/retailer.
Pre Brexshit postage was a bit hit and miss. Some parcels arrived in a week, another would be 3 weeks. Only ever had one not turn up and it took almost 2 months to sort a refund.
Item arriving today from bikeinn. Ordered 2nd but stuck, presumably at port, for 5 days. Saying that this is the estimated data of delivery they gave when I ordered it so...
Edit just arrived. Postie rang doorbell and was offski nothing additional to pay yet.
I bought some Castelli RoS gloves from them just before Christmas and they arrived in a couple of days
I ordered a MET helmet this week, but when the invoice came through it lacked any mention of UK VAT. I cancelled the order quickly, but followed up directly over their online messenger if the prices included UK VAT and they confirmed it did. They don't help themselves not making this clear on the site or on the invoices, but i guess it's not their problem if the postie or courier hold back delivery post sale.
As the only place seemingly in the world to have a 12 speed XT Shifter, i took a punt on BikeInn and ordered Saturday. It just turned up today!
Import tax (i think, my Spanish is not good) paid at point of order (£8) and it was still cheaper than anywhere else.
What’s the verdict?
Can't believe no-one's been there as you're looking for WTB tyres, but as you ask it's a front focussed tyre with an aggressive tread for use in loose conditions. You're welcome! 😉
On Bike Inn, nothing much to add that hasn't been said already. On the couple of times I've used them in the past for orders to the UK, they weren't particularly quick, and now with the added post-Brexit customs lottery (additional delays and/or additional costs) I'd probably avoid for the time being until things settle down a bit
Import tax (i think, my Spanish is not good) paid at point of order (£8) and it was still cheaper than anywhere else.
My pre-brexit order had - "Iva (20%):" as a line on the invoice.
My Post brexit order did not have that line but had "Gastos Importación:" after the grand total and an amount that is 20% of the final sum. Gastos Importación means 'import expenses'
So I'm hoping that means they have knocked off the Spanish VAT and added the UK vat at source. So no more spendy just a lot more waity (mine is still in a transport warehouse a couple of miles from the BikeInn warehouse)
might have been a mistake ordering on the 1st Jan! haha
(mine is still in a transport warehouse a couple of miles from the BikeInn warehouse)
keeping mine company - perhaps they are waiting for a few more ship in bulk
Last year i'd have said yes, no problems. This year post-Brexshit, who knows?
Mine arrived yesterday, ordered 28th December.
I ordered 2 tyres from BikeInn on the 3.1.21, they arrived here on the 7th.
No extra costs etc, though that may have changed since then.
