After the recent thread about mudguards, I thought I would go for the Wing Win which looked just what I wanted. Did the usual Google trawl which showed the cheapest to be the above website so I ordered 2. I did get an acknowledgement and the cash went but when I tried to follow the tracking info it was completely spurious. More googling revealed this is indeed a scam website. I feel really dumb to be taken in so be careful everybody! Has anybody else fallen for this and were there any repercussions like identity theft etc?

There are some basic checks you can do on a website you’ve never heard of to assess if it’s legit or not. WhoIs, TrustPilot or just ask on here!

They've appeared in  few recent searches recently as being by far the cheapest but to me it was easy to spot it was a scam website and I mean obvious and I'm genuinely not rubbing salt on your wound

I feal a tad guilty for not warning others on here but I would have if I thought anyone would of been taken in.

Yes there likely phising for your card details so cancel that card or at least advise your card issuer immediately

Quick list of red flags in case it helps anyone in future who cba to read that entire article:

1. "-uk.com" domain
2. Address doesn't match the name at the top of the website
3. "Mudguards Shop", "thing shop" is a generic and easy to generate lots of scam websites from

Thanks for the warning and don’t feel bad about being caught. Despite all these clever-clogs replies :o)

it happens to a lot of us - I got caught out a couple of years ago. I paid for a new bike and lost all the money! Thankfully my bank reimbursed me.

OP - suggest you advise your bank and get the card cancelled ASAP as they now have your name, address and card details. In addition you may also be able to get reimbursed depending on your bank/type of card used.
