Need to store a few sets of spare bike wheels in the garage with limited free space. I would normally have hooks and hang them from the joists, but where I have space to do this they will hang too low and be in the way of the up and over garage door.
So any practical solutions? Was thinking of some sort of frame above where the garage door goes, and lying the wheels flat. Anyone done similar and got any pictures to share? Cheers.
I'm thinking of similar in my bike shed.
Bear in mind it's quarter to five am and I'm drawing on a phone with a fat finger... 😉
For simple, how about a hook, better yet two hooks (one at 11 o'clock, one at 1 o'clock on the wheel), hook the wheel in flat, then secure the other side with a bungee ball through an eyelet?

Or a simple batten running the whole length of the space with a wider strip of ply screwed to it, spaced off the ceiling enough to slide a wheel into appropriate to your wheels, then another block the other side with a bit of ply with a pivot screw so you can turn it and hold the wheel in?

Or if you have qr axles, a simple slot in a plate stood off from the surface enough to slide the smaller end of the qr into between the head and hub?
Bolt-through, threaded inserts into battens, and some threaded knobs?

Just thinking out loud through insomnia...
Ours are all hung high up on the side wall in double bags from Planet X when they were selling them off.
Kayak, some good ideas there. Thanks.
Tracey, that would be ideal, but all wall space is taken. Only place left is the space above where the up and over garage door is.
What I really need to do is get rid of some bikes and wheels to free up space, but that is never going to happen!
I'm sure I posted this, but........
Anyway. How about one of these stretched across the roof space. Weave the wheels through the end cords for extra stability
