Hey,
I've got a lot of space to build a bike wash area, and I need some inspiration!
My initial thoughts are dig a trench, a field drain and pop a decent sized grate over.
What have you done that's bike wash specific?
Cheers
Ricks
Old workstand to hold the bike.
Hose with variable jet patterns.
Table or similar for brushes and soap.
APF
I'm looking at create a space where all the mud and debris can be removed after a while, rather than making its way into the nearby stream or clogging up the field.
Something like a large grate as a filter, or similar...
I think Seths bike hacks had a whole episode where he built one.
Seem to recall someone posting a pic of theirs involving a gravel bed and some blocks of wood to hold the wheels in place. Possibly @tracey but it was a while ago and I've slept since then...
Yeah, maybe that Seth's bike wash is a good starting point. If it had a surrounded splash back to stop mud going everywhere that would work well.
Feel like it would be better if it had a drain and maybe a soakaway too.
I thought about something similar, using a deep gravel soak-away so followed a couple of similar posts on here. As a couple of folk helpfully pointed out, you need to know how deep the water table lies and also stop it silting up.
