I am currently attempting to upgrade a GT Avalanche with new bits, going from v brakes to disk etc etc. before I buy wheels and forks I would like some advice on the size of the QR. do I go for 15mm or 9mm and does one come with a price premium as I am really trying to keep costs down to an absolute minimum.

Many thanks.

if your forks have disc mounts already then you wont need new forks they will probably be standard quick release
15mm wont fit

but a 9mm through axle qr will fit and make things stiffer too

you can also fit a 10mm thru axel too which will also help stiffen things

these wheels have the option of speccing whatever size axle you want

to be honest if you are buying new then you would probably be better off looking at a complete bike?

eg http://www.canyon.com/_en/mountainbikes/bike.html?b=2538

if not then maybe these forks

Thanks kimbers. It is mildly annoying that you can't build up a perfectly good frame for less than a new bike like a canyon. Forks and wheels are killing me.
