For my wife to lug her open water swimming kit about so she can have a cold and miserable time in other bits of the sea not just the bit outside our house.

Road/cyclepath use rather than off-road.

I see that there are one wheel and two wheel types.

Budget about £200 or thereabouts.

I suppose it wouldn’t matter if it was a kid trailer rather than a luggage trailer as you could still chuck the stuff in there, if that gives more options.

As always, thanks in advance!

Ive got a cheap copy of the above single wheel trailer, it doesn’t affect handling much, like panniers do, fits down trails without too much worry and is actually pretty good off road.

The parts that attach to the really long we skewer were poorly made and it would lean from side to side because of the slack. I cut them off and welded rose joints on, can hardly tell it’s there.

I also use a two wheel trailer on my cargo bike which is 6ft long for picking up big stuff and that does affect handling (probably the weight more than anything) but is super useful along with being hilariously ridiculous.

Cheers.

Or there’s this

which appears to have almost double the capacity (weight).

What sort of stuff do you carry for open water swimming? Could you just put it in panniers instead of a trailer?

Wetsuit, dryrobe, kids wetsuits, towels, drinks and, apparently, a barbecue 🤷🏻‍♂️

Sounds like that would go in a couple of large panniers, possibly barbecue across the top. Worth considering as a cheaper alternative to a trailer?

I have the 'Nomad' linked to above. I use it primarily for grocery shopping but find it heaps easier than faffing with the jigsaw like nature of packing stuff into panniers (pack large box as I walk around the supermarket, load box onto trailer cycle home). I do swim regularly (or did until lock-down) and over the years have accumulated pullbuoys kickboards paddles etc which now fill a large Ikea bag this now just goes in the trailer and I cycle to the pool. The towing is straight forward even when close to max weight and the thick rubber coupling has proved robust so far.

Thanks. She’s not keen on panniers because she doesn’t think everything will fit. She’s gone for the Nomad.
