Anyone have a tracker device or similar on their bike??? I understand watermarking and stuff like that but it's only useful if you find the bike. And that's the hard bit.

Iv had to move in with girlfriends mum whilst we wait for our house to be built. About 6 months. We're in Luton. Not a particularly bad part of Luton but still luton. With a road facing garage on a through road I'm conscious of people seeing me put my bike away.

I suppose I'm a bit hung up on the matter after I had my pride and joy (Golf R32) stolen from under my nose last year and it vanishing off the face of the earth with no tracker on it.

Are they worth it on a bike? Do they exist? Iv seen this 'tile' thing but understand it's more of a close proximity thing and kinda rely on someone else having the app installed on their phone and being close to it.

We have a good garage door but no alarm or anything. I Also heard of a sprite down the road just pushing someone off their bike and nicking it.

Any ideas?

Or just harden up, stop worrying being a little hussy and get on and ride?

There are some battery powered gps locator ones out there that go in your steerer tube they take a pay as you go SIM card and you use a key fob to turn them on/off if your mike gets knicked and has good 3G signal it locates where it is and you can track it online. Now gonna go find the link back in a bit. I'm back it's these things http://www.integratedtrackers.com/GPSTrack/

SIM based trackers on a bike are going to be pretty useless if the bike ends up anywhere multi-occupancy and tbh the signal may not be accurate enough even if it goes into a single house to justify Police going in. Used them lots, great on a car or lorry which is difficult to hide but not so good on anything small and manouvereable, such as a bike or a case of drugs.

and you can buy this sort of kit off ebay for cheap, stick it under some inner tubes in a saddle pack etc
