So, i'm using some crappy halfrauds tool box which is only just big enough to cope with the increasing tool collection and small spares.

I need to get a better box, and relegate the spares to another (probably the existing) box.

What are people using, and could make good suggestions about sturdy box with either fold out drawers, or lift out trays and a larger 'hole' for bulkier tools. I dont want one with too much organisation (such as templated holes, or cut-outs) more of just storage space. Several lift out trays would be best i think.

On wheels would be good, but it must stay light enough to lift down steps etc: Also needs to go in and out of the car when needed.

tempt me into a overly needless purchase. Although pro-versions at over £300 are overkill i think.

I've got this Stanley one. It's not huge but it's nicely portable and big enough for the stuff I use regularly and a few spares. Trays are nice as they slide in and out so you know if the box is going to close, though the lid does need to be fully open to slide the trays back. I've then got a couple of big plastic tubs, one for spares and another for infrequently used tools.

Oh and stickers.

What about one of those Mobile Work Station jobbies made by the likes of Stanley etc? A good solution if you are humping it about with the added bonus of being able to leave the bottom behind if you just want to take essentials with you in the top box.

I have older version of this. Two deep trays for tools plenty space for spares. Small compartments for bolts etc. Quite rugged and good as a seat for getting changed

bought a big Stanley toolbox for £30 a few years back (it was so big it had 2 smaller Stanley toolboxes inside, which I gave to friends) and then plastered it with stickers

[img] [/img]

It hardly fits all the tools I have (I work as a bike mechanic, but this is my "home toolbox" with my own tools) and I can hardly lift it off the floor because of all the tools it rammed with, but its nice to keep everything in one box

Ameteurs the lot of you. 😉 I removed all non bike items from the garage. There's more that's not in this pic, and the cupboard has motorcycle/camping gear n it, but you get the idea from the pic below. No joke, I actually do know of bike shops less well equipped than me.

good stuff everyone. Some version i had not seen before.

@peterpoddy, although my bikes number more than yours i dont have the luxury of a garage. So, nice at that looks, i'll just have to stay jealous

@Tracey, that looks sweet, but i would just fill it up and never be able to move it.

@backinireland, I would very much be interested in the seat/box aspect, suits my lazy nature. Thanks for the suggestion.

Its a Stanley . Had it quite a while. Stows away under some shelving when not in use.
